Pokemon is one of my favorite franchises of all time. My first game was Pokemon Black 2, and with that I fell in love with the series. Today, I wanted to showcase some of my favorite Pokemon (in no particular order) and share why I like them and think they're awesome.
Azumarill!!!! I love my blue water ball bnuuy she's so cool!!!!! Back when I played Pokemon GO all the time (i hate niantic) Azumarill became one of my favs because I found a bunch of shiny marills, and I soon fell in love with the look of golden Azumarill. While I don't know a ton about competitive Pokemon, I do know that it's tanky as fuck, with a super nice water fairy typing and pretty beefy defense and sp. defense stats. I also used it a lot in Pokemon SV, back in the early days of tera raids when every single person in a lobby ran a play rough belly drum Azumarill.
if you were to bounce azumarill on the ground like a basketball do you think it would sound like a handball
I think that altaria would make the perfect pillow. If Pokemon were real, my main partner would be an Altaria. We could fly everywhere, battle for fun, and curl up together all cozy each night. While I know that Altaria isn't the best Pokemon ever (not even the best flying dragon type, Rayquaza and Salamence are probably way better), it's one of my favs just for vibes alone. I love my flying birb dragon she's awesome
Ok so storytime! Back in Pokemon Black 2, Volcarona appeared at the bottom of Relic Castle as a static encounter. Since I was like 12 or something when playing this game, I didn't realize that this wasn't a legendary Pokemon, so Volcarona has always stood out as being the legendary sun moth, kind of the same way how people saw Zoroark, Lucario, and Arcanine as legendary Pokemon. Nowadays, it's incredibly easy to get your hands on a Volcarona (just catch a Larvesta in Asado Desert they're everywhere), but back in the day this was such a cool encounter.
Funnily enough, I don't think I ever even caught that original Volcarona. This bitch has such a low catch rate that I always ended up failing to catch it and ended up refighting the Elite 4 a bunch of times solely for Volcarona (this was before I knew that saving before a legendary was something you should always do). Because of this, I always make sure to grab a Volcarona. And for a while, this was my second most favorite Pokemon. However, in Gen 9, that spot was soon taken by...
Despite how buggy Scarlet and Violet were, we got some incredibly good Pokemon designs in this generation. And out of these, the undisputably best one is Slither Wing, the fighting bug Paradox Pokemon. If you don't know what Paradox Pokemon are, they're basically just prehistoric or futuristic versions of already existing Pokemon (go play Pokemon SV or watch a playthrough of it or whatever it'll make more sense there).
So anyway, take the already perfect design of Volcarona and make it large and fluffy, and you have peak Pokemon design. Sure, Violet has Iron Moth, but this is the best one of the moth trio by a large margin. Once again, if Pokemon were real then alongside Altaria I would also have a Slither Wing alongside me and we would go on great adventures across the region and have so much fun fuck yeah
Ok look if you're surprised to see Sylveon here idk what you were expecting like I'm literally transgender this is my government mandated Pokemon for crying out loud!
Fr tho Sylveon is such a good Pokemon, and it's an incredibly good fairy type to get if you can get your hands on an Eevee early on. Literally just spend time loving your Eevee and then boom! Fun ribbon Pokemon unlocked! I love the design of Sylveon so much as well! Even though the transgender theming is likely coincidental, it still goes to show that pink, baby blue, and white go together super well. Not much else to say here ig but I still love this lil mon so much despite that.
Idk why i love this lil dude so much but i love this funky lil fire goldfish even though canonically chi-yu would melt you alive if you got anywhere near him according to the pokedex but i think he's awesome :)
Much like Azumarill, I fell in love with Mammoswine through Pokemon GO. At the time, this was one of the best ice type Pokemon to use in raid battles. Since a ton of legendary Pokemon are dragon types, Mammoswine ended up getting a ton of use, especially against ones like Rayquaza. As time went on and I used Mammoswine more and more, I fell in love with this wooly mammoth pig beast. There's not really anything super specific I like about Mammoswine, but I always name my Mammoswine "Microwave" for some reason, idk why but I feel like it fits it so well.
Last in this list is Chandelure, my number one favorite Pokemon of all time. Gen V brought such cool Pokemon designs, from Volcarona and Zoroark to Galvantula and Ferrothorn. However, I think that the best of the designs in that game is Chandelure. Fire and ghost go together like bread and butter, and the Litwick line was somehow the first to take advantage of that theming. And even though there have been more fire ghost types to come after, none of them pull off the theme as good as Chandelure does (Alolan Marowak and Ceruledge come close though, but not close enough). There's so much that I love about this design, from it having purple fire (woah like these website colors), how the flames are animated on the DS sprite, and so much more. Oh also, if you look at it's shiny form, you'll see that it's got red flames, which is a really cool touch.
Thanks for reading this blog post! It was a lot of fun to write, and I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit more about me and my favorite Pokemon! I might do a part 2 to this sometime, since there's still a few more Pokemon that I wanted to talk about but 8 felt like a good even number to cap this list at. Anyway, see ya later!
