...And we're live! First ever blogpost woo!
As of right now, we're almost done crafting the primary elements of this website. So far, I've got:
There's still a lot to be worked on, but there's really good progress being made so far and I couldn't be prouder of myself. I've only known how to program in html and css for about a week at this point (thank you w3schools) and it's super cool seeing actual tangible evidence of what I've learned. Self-taught too, I haven't paid a dime for my html education or this website! Maybe in the future I'll start putting money towards this, but for now it's just a passion project and hobby.
In the past, I've tried to start creative projects, specifically in the blog territory. I tried to make a blog called "Jackin 'bout games" (get it? the joke is sex) where I talked and rambled about video games and my own interests, but that never really went anywhere. I have an entire drafted article about which Rhythm Heaven minigames can't be played without vision (There's less than you think!), but it ended up being wayyy to ambitious and I lost motivation. Maybe one day I'll come back to that idea, but it's going back in the ideas drawer for now.
If you're reading this post and going "man, this makes me want to have my own website!" do it! It's never been easier to start learning. Heck, I only started a week ago and I've already been able to build so much! Sure, we're not close to being finished but I know way way more than I did just two weeks ago. Best starting point is to use w3schools to learn the basics of html and css, and look at the sources and inspect element of other neocities websites! You could look at mine too if you want but I barely know how to do this so you're better off looking elsewhere. If you want more resources specifically aimed at creating websites, I have a whole section in the links tab dedicated to web design and resources, which I hope to keep cultivating and adding to over time.
So, what's the point of this blog and what are my goals for it? For the sake of breaking up text a bit better here, I'll make a list again.
And this list may change or grow over time! Not this physical one, I'm not changing the elements of this article. But I love the idea of having a space where I can just put stuff down for myself. Kind of like a diary or journal, except anyone with a computer or phone (if you're reading my blog on your phone gl with that) can look at it! That's like, the main benefits of social media platforms without all the corporate bullshit. Look at me go, Elon! (fuck you elon)
Anyway, that's about it for the first post. I won't be updating this on a specific schedule, just whenever I feel like it. I also have 0 clue how to create an RSS feed, so if you really care that much about what I have to say the best way to keep up to date with anything I write about is by coming back here every now and then and seeing if there's new stuff!
See ya later!
